Faith Seeds and Child Evangelism Fellowship, accompanied
by volunteers (see photo) traveled to six prisons in
three states to conduct three different discipleship
seminars. The result was sharing the gospel message
with over 520 women at FPC Alderson, Southern Correctional,
the Mary Frances Center, Leath Correctional, Camille
Griffin Graham Correctional, and the North Carolina
Correctional Institution for Women.
Sue
Johnson presented The Prayer Seminar, God's Restoration
Plan, and Blooming in the Desert. Debbie Walsh of CEF
presented the program on reconciliation of families
and the opportunity to enroll children in a Bible Study.
More than 140 women signed up for the Faith Seeds correspondence
study. Look for more details on the Sue’s Journal
coming soon!
Faith Seeds Prison Ministry began in 2005, when we met
the staff at Operation Starting Line (OSL). We subsequently
became involved in a statewide OSL campaign and have
since participated in several OSL campaigns and events.
Faith Seeds is a collaborator with Operation Starting
Line. The ministry is also a member of COPE –
the Coalition of Prison Evangelists.
Our primary mission is to provide discipleship to women
inmates at correctional facilities across the United
States. We have taught a discipleship program called,
The Prayer Seminar, at twenty-three women’s facilities
around the country. The purpose of the Prayer Seminar
is to teach and equip women to pray and intercede, using
Biblical principles. We also have available a Prayer
Seminar correspondence course, called Prayer and Intercession
Discipleship, which women can choose to complete. We
offer other discipleship seminars, including: God’s
Restoration Plan; Renewing Our Minds; We are God’s
Yes; The Descriptive Names of God; and Encouraging Ourselves
with the Word. In 2010, we are introducing a new discipleship
seminar called You Shall Bloom in the Desert.
Faith Seeds leads a monthly Bible Study at a women’s
facility. The ministry also facilitates a weekly Prayer
Group at a women’s correctional facility, utilizing
a team of eight volunteers for the program. We have
developed seventeen discipleship programs that are available
to women as classes or as correspondence studies.
Our secondary mission is to build a growing base of
intercessors across the country that are called to pray
for women inmates and for prison ministry. The Faith
Seeds Prayer Force is a team of prayer warriors from
several states who faithfully pray for various prison
ministry events and specific needs of incarcerated women.
Through e-mail Prayer Alerts and updates, intercessors
are kept informed on prayer needs and concerns.
We also are available to work with churches and other
prison ministry groups in the area of prayer and intercession.
