STUDIES ARCHIVE....Light Living in Darkness
John 1:4-5 – Jesus was life, which was the light of men; that
light shone in the darkness which did not comprehend it. Darkness
can’t comprehend light. It cannot outlast light. It is not
greater than light. 1John 4:4 tells us that greater is He who is
in us than he who is in the world.
John 3:19-20 tells us about darkness and evil and why some people
do not come to the light – Jesus. He says the evil hates the
light! Evil won’t come to the light for fear what he does
might be exposed. Understand this means thought darkness may come
near light, it cannot come to the light – it has to remain
dark. We may have loved ones, friends or family members, who are
in darkness. They don’t understand us, believe us, or receive
us. They can come around us – but they are alienated from
us. And they can become bitter, angry.
John 12:36 says, “believe in the light.” Believe in
Jesus Christ. Our job is to believe in the Son whom God sent to
take our place of death, so that might have life. We believe by
faith. Darkness does not understand faith.
John 12:46 says that Jesus has come as a light into the world –
whoever abides in Him should not abide in darkness. Jesus says,
“Abide in Me.” We may occupy here, but we do not abide
here – we abide in Christ Jesus.
Rom. 13:12 instructs us to cast off the works of darkness and put
on the armor of light. We can actually use light as a piece of equipment
for our protection as we walk in this land of darkness.
2 Cor. 4:6 – just as God commanded light to shine out of darkness,
it shines in our hearts to give us knowledge of the glory of God.
Eph. 5:8-14 – we are light in the Lord – and so are
to walk as children of light, Have no fellowship with the unfruitful
works of darkness, rather expose them. How? Simply by being the
light. The light exposing the darkness and its works!
1Th. 5:5 – we are sons of light, not of darkness. Agree with
truth.
1 Pet. 2:9 – we have been called out of darkness and into
His marvelous light. What a blessing indeed to have heard the great
voice of our Shepherd as He called us out of the place of darkness
and into His marvelous light!
