The Great
Shaking
“See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh. For if they
escaped not who refused Him that spake on earth, much more shall we
not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven:
whose yoke then shook the earth: but now He hath promised, saying,
‘Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.’
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things
that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which
cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom
which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God
acceptably with reverence and godly fear: for our God is a consuming
fire.” Hebrews 12:25-29
Every thing shall be shaken until the only things unshaken are the
things of God – His kingdom.
Shaken: to waver, agitate, rock, topple, disturb, incite, destroy
– this indicates there are levels of shaking, from agitation
to destruction!
Cannot not be shaken: immoveable
We can examine four cross references to put this into perspective:
Ex. 24:17 – the sight of the glory of God was like a consuming
fire
Dt. 4:24 – For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a Jealous
God.
Isa. 42:8 – I am the Lord, that is my Name; and my glory I will
not give to another, nor my praise to carved images.
Haggai 2:6-7 – All the nations shall be shaken; heaven and Earth;
the sea and dry land.
Idols shall be shaken
The works of man shall be shaken
The nations shall be shaken
All things not of God shall be shaken
Why does God do this? Because He loves us. He wants to
restore us and prepare us as His Bride without
Spot or blemish. He wants to heal the brokenhearted and set
free the captives. He loves us so much He won’t let us
stay in our current condition.
Our job in this is to believe (John 6:29) and to express our faith.
It is to yield to the purifying flames of God, to ask Him to remove
the impurities of our lives, remove the dross. Heb. 12 says
we are to serve God with reverence and Godly fear. We know that
we are receiving an unshakeable kingdom, with Lord Jesus as King.
We’re to confess with out mouths our faith; to call forth from
the Cross of Christ those things that were secured on our behalf by
the One who knew no sin, yet became a sin offering for us. We
are challenged to call it forth even if we don’t yet see it.
Things are shaking and will continue to shake – all around us.
Religion is being shaken until relation is left standing.
Information is being shaken until intimacy is left standing.
Hurts are being shaken until healing is left standing.
Commitment to self is being shaken until commitment to Christ…
The law is being shaken until grace is left standing.
The church is being shaken until the Bride is ready.
Invite the Holy Spirit to minister to you this day. Call it
forth today.
Father, remove the Rust from my life. Purify my heart, my mouth,
my hands, Lord God. Father, I call forth healing from the Cross.
Father, I don’t see it yet, But I believe YOU for it! I call
it forth,
in the Name of Jesus! I confess it with my mouth, and with my
heart. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
