Understanding
God’s Peace
John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;
not as the world give it do I give to you. Let not your heart be
troubled neither let it be afraid.”
Jesus has left His peace for us. It is different than the world’s
peace – often measured by what we don’t have (bills,
illness, abuse, divorce). The peace of the Lord is measured by what
we do have (hope, love, faith. Peace is shalom, meaning a blessing
of health, security, tranquility, well-being; completeness, wholeness,
fulfillment.
Ps. 85:8 “I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for He
will speak peace to His people and to His saints.” He speaks
peace to us! He is our source, thru His Son.
Eph. 2:14: “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both
one, and broken down the middle wall of separation.” Christ
Jesus made peace available to us.
Ps. 34:14: “Seek peace and pursue it.” Find it and go
after it.
Phil. 4:7: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” When
pray, we receive peace as a guardian in our lives.
Col. 3:15: “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”
We can let this peace govern us.
Mt. 5:9: “Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be
called sons of God.”
We can become a peacemaker – one who lives in wholeness and
well-being.
